This is the BIG ONE, folks! Our Annual BEAGLE BASH FOR CASH! is our signature FUN-raiser of the year! Last year, thanks to your incredible support, we raised over $4,000 for our homeless howlers! And as many of you may recall, one little beagle spent it all! Our little Dwight D. Eisenhowler required spinal surgery in the same month after rescuing him through the Scarborough pound. Dwight doesn't walk like a drunken sailor anymore and that's all because of you! We want to save MORE beagles like Dwight in the months ahead and it's only possible with your help. That's why our BEAGLE BASH FOR CASH is so important each year. Not only are you making a difference for homeless howlers, but you and your beagle and/or beagle-wannabees are having fun at the same time! Join us for the Best Beagle Party in Town on Sunday, November 15th at Urban Dog from 1:00pm to 3:00pm! Don't worry, our friends at Urban Dog always let us go overtime! After all, it aint easy rounding up party animals like our beagles! Visit our web site for all the dazzling details! There will be spot prizes, on-site nail clipping services available, a 50/50 Draw, a Raffle Table, a Silent Auction Table, a People Cake to devour and...for the first time in Beagle Bash history, we'll have a CHOW-colate Mountain for our Beagles to conquer, i.e. Eat, Burp & Destroy! No worries! It's perfectly civilized! Pieces of the mountain only will be chipped off by my husband the Cake Guy and handed out to the waiting mouths of our canine guests. They will not be permitted to "climb" the mountain...sorry dogs! Last but not least, we're looking for a new Baddest/Bestest Beagle in the Universe to crown! And we've made it even easier for you to enter this special contest! All you have to do is email us with ONE THING ONLY that your beagle has done to prove he or she deserves the crown. You have until November 10th to submit your entry! The winner will be announced at this year's BEAGLE BASH so your beagle must be present in order to be ordained the King...or Queen! Until the BASH, keep howlin'! |

But your HOWL-O-WEENIE in the PARK-EENIE this month aint so shabby either! For those flamboyant beagles out there, come in costume if you dare! We'll be awarding the Best Costume with a little prize! Summer is almost over, Rover... The kids are back to school and "Mom" is pulling out your picky wooly-bear sweater from the mothballs for a pre-season cleaning. But why the droopy tail, Beagle??? There's still plenty of sniffing to do before the snow flies and the stinky smells freeze up!!! So grab your servant and meet us at Toto Park on Sunday, September 27th starting at 2:00pm to wave your tail goodbye to Summer and HOWLO to Fall! We also want to take this opportunity to thank our members for continuing to send in exciting suggestions for other doggy parks we can invade! We can't wait to try them all in the months ahead! But don't let us stop you if you want to plan something before then! As you know, we make an effort to schedule an official BYOB meetup once a month, but we'd be delighted if some of you want to arrange unofficial beagle pow-wows in between! That's one of the reasons we set up a Message Board so our members can correspond with each other whenever they want. By chatting on the Message Board, you can hook up with other members in your area for beagle walks at your favourite parks and nature trails! So, don't be shy! I know I'll be keeping an eye out on what's being planned via our message board for my own beagle pack! Until we meet again, keep howlin' ya'll!!! |

This is our official July 2009 meetup... in between wonderful WOOFSTOCK in June and our Party for YOU in celebration of Woofstock at Pawsway in August! Don't we just LOVE to spoil you and your beagle!!! Come out for a little outdoor summer fun with us at Toto Park on July 12th starting at 11:00am! We're usually there for a couple of hours but it's a public park and you're more than welcome to stay longer! It won't rain on us (paws crossed!) but if we should get a surprise attack of water from the heavens that morning, we've picked a rain date of July 19th. If it's light rain and not expected to continue all day, we'll be there on July 12th. But, if it's pouring cats and hogs (not dogs), we'll see you the following Sunday instead! Toto Park can get awfully muddy in a downpour! See ya'll soon! |

The Walkathon at Woofstock is one of the most important fundraising event of the year for Big On Beagles - second only to our annual BEAGLE BASH FOR CASH held in November! This year, we hope to raise $10,000 for our homeless howlers! It may seem impossible but we have faith, thanks to the incredible continuing support we receive from friends like you who share our passion and compassion for beagles. I'm sure I don't have to tell you how costly veterinary bills can be...you have a beagle or two of your own. But imagine being responsible for over 10 beagles at a time? We spend thousands of dollars each year to bring back the wag to so many deserving little howlers left homeless through no fault of their own. It's what we do and what we want to keep on doing year after year. So please, join our BOB family this year and Walk for the beagles we're meant to save! You can download a pledge form from our web site. The folks at K9 Rescue Me would also be grateful if you pre-registered with them on-line so they have a better sense of how many walkers are attending and their pledge goals to ensure they stock enough prizes! Their web site is www.k9rescueme.com to pre-register! But, if you can't make it out to the Walk, you can still support us by pledging our very own BOB Rescue Beagle, Dwight D. Eisenhowler! His dream goal is to raise $1,000 for his rescuers and he's over halfway there! You can make an on-line pledge to Dwight through our web site which will guarantee you a kiss and a whisker tickle from Dwight the next time he sees you! So come on out on June 14th and have a beagle ball with us!!! |

Winter is over, Rover! We've gotta get YOU in shape for the K9 Rescue Me Walkathon on Sunday, June 14, 2009! This will mark BOB's 4th year participating in the Walkathon at WOOFSTOCK. Besides our Annual BEAGLE BASH FOR CASH held in November, the Walkathon is without a doubt our most important fundraiser of the year! With your help, we hope to raise $10,000 at this year's Walk! I know it's pawsible judging from last year's spectacular attendance! We had one howl of a time raising $6,500 for our homeless howlers last year! But we want MORE BEAGLES sniffing the street for the cause this year! If you haven't downloaded your BOB Pledge Form yet, please don't hesitate to visit our Home Page and click on the link! For anyone who cannot attend the Walkathon, you can still help by pledging us on-line. We'll have an on-line giving page set up exclusively for the Walkathon through our Canada Helps Giving Pages shortly. Now, let's talk about our Pre-Woofstock Workout Meetup! We're thrilled to be introducing you all to a brand new venue! Esteemed member, Shana Hillman, suggested this wonderful green space in the heart of Toronto! Not only does it get 4-paws up from Shana's darlings, our partner Jenn tells us her Beagle Trio are nose over tails for the place! The Winston Churchill Off Leash Dog Park is fully-fenced with 5ft chain link fencing and secure double-gate entrances. Located on the Southeast corner of Spadina Road & St. Clair Avenue West, behind Casa Loma, this flat greenspace offers oodles of space to romp, play and sniff for your adventurous marathon beagle! The dog park is specifically located directly behind the tennis courts at the back of the park - just walk from the St. Clair Avenue West side of the park towards the back and you'll find it! If taking the TTC, it's only a short walk east along St. Clair Avenue from the St. Clair subway station. If driving, there's plenty of street parking on your choice of 3 streets that surround the park - Spadina Road to the west, St. Clair Avenue West to the north and Russell Hill Road to the east. All 3 streets offer a path leading to the Leash-Free Park! We'll be working out our beags from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday, May 10th. But if, dare I say, we're rained out, we'd like to offer Sunday, May 24th as our Rain Date. So, if it rains cats & dogs on Saturday, May 9th or starts raining cats &dogs on Sunday morning, May 10th, we'll be sure to send out an e-blast confirming the switch to May 24th and then we'll cross our paws it doesn't rain on the 24th! We've got one other special reason for you to come out to our May meetup! Ball Caps!!! This is your chance to pick up a BIG ON BEAGLES ball cap in advance of Woofstock! These are quality caps in our signature red so you'll be looking very spiffy, while helping us to raise funds and awareness for our special work on behalf of homeless howlers! We also encourage you to wear your cap to all our future events, especially the Walkathon at Woofstock this year! See you at the Park!!! |

April Showers means wet howlers so, in order to avoid the Soggy Doggy Syndrome, we're taking it inside for our April Meetup! There's another good reason to paw our way to Pawsway too...the incredible staff at Pawsway are offering the playroom to us for FREE! Now how nice is that?!!! Pawsway is an amazing place so, if you didn't join us the last couple of times, you're in for a treat! Not only does it have a bright, spacious play area for our dogs, but if offers something for us humans as well! The coffee shop in the front is a perfect place to sit your tail down and indulge in a cup of brew and something to chew! Best of all, your beagle can sit his tail down right beside you! Don't forget the little pet shop where you can buy all sorts of unique things for you and your pet! And if the call of the wild beckons, you can always head outside for a leash walk along the waterfront! Our beagles really do like to cut loose in the playroom so all we ask is that you always have one eye on your "wild child" at all times! Nature has a way of blooming indoors EVERYWHERE so it's important that you clean up after your nature lover should he or she make a "deposit" or share a "pee-mail" The last time we had a Pawsway meetup, some of our members thought it would be nice to have a contest to add to the fun! We thought that was a BEAGLICIOUS idea so we'll be plotting something for our members! Stay tuned! |

Due to an overwhelming response to the chosen venue, we've decided to move our meetup to Toto Park in Mississauga! We completely understand your worries about holding our free-range meetup in a dog park that is not completely fenced and secure. Although we've had a ball before down at the beach, we want the majority of our members to feel 100% comfortable about having their beagles off-leash. We're also delighted to receive feedback from some of you on other fully fenced dog parks throughout Toronto, the GTA and beyond. THANK YOU! We're looking forward to checking out these venues and will no doubt choose some or all for future meetups! Shana also brought up a great idea for an on-leash meetup! We LOVE the idea of going for a hike with our howlers in the many beautiful conservation areas the GTA has to offer! This is definitely an option when the nicer weather finally arrives! Last but not least, we'd like to suggest setting up a Message Board for our members so that those who'd like to communicate with other members on a regular basis can do so easily while respecting those members who prefer not to hear all about....mmmm.....an Hoping our change of venue will bring more howlers out for the March Of Howls!!! |

Forget about those January blahs! Come out and celebrate the new year with us in warmth, comfort and a great view of the lake while our beagles run circles around us! We happily discovered Pawsway when our HOWLaweeny Tricks 4 Treats Meetup at Toto got rained out! We had a howl of a time at Pawsway instead - thanks to the friendly staff who accommodated us at the last minute! The recreation room is quite spacious and boasts a second floor doggy race track for those speed demons who like to explore! We've got the room from 11:00am to 1:00pm but the fun doesn't have to end there! You can visit the Paw Shop at Pawsway to pick up fun gear for your pet, cool stuff for you and great gifts for friends and family...in case you didn't have enough fun shopping for them for the HOWLidays! And don't forget the best part of all! Williams Coffee Pub inside Pawsway where you and your beagle can enjoy a yummy snack before hitting the road! If you haven't visited Pawsway before, we can't wait to see your reaction to this one-of-kind facility! We love it so much that we're thinking of renting it for our 4th Annual BEAGLE BASH FOR CASH next November! The rental for Pawsway is quite reasonable - $50 per hour. Our Post-HOWLiday Party will run 2 hours and so we will be asking our members to contribute to the rental by paying $5 per family. As many of you know, we've endured much expense for our rescue beagles in the last little while. Dwight D. Eisenhowler had spinal surgery on December 5th to the tune of $4,000 and Maxi had his first cruciate ligament surgery in September and is about to have the same surgery on his other hind leg on Dec. 29th. The total costs for Maxi's 2 operations will be $5,000. So many of you have reached out to us with your support to help cover these costs and we cannot thank you enough. There is no way we could have done all of this for Dwight and Max without your help. Because of you, we will not be forced to close our doors after all. We like to call it a Christmas miracle! Let's celebrate on January 31st TOGETHER! By then, little Dwight will be free to run with the other beagles! With any luck, Maxi will be able to make an appearance too! And don't forget all the other foster beagles still waiting to be adopted like Vincent, Walter, Clark and Nicholas! Hopefully, they can all make it out that day as well! For detailed directions to Pawsway, visit their web site. Our Pawsway pals have explaied that there are a few parking lots in close proximity to Pawsway ranging from $9 to $12. If you're travelling by TTC, there are stops right in front of the facility! Please note that there is no access to a fenced-in outdoor area for tinkles. If nature calls for your beagle baby, you'll need to leave the facility for a little walk along the harbourfront. But no worries about indoor accidents. There are plenty of mops on hand for that purpose! I think that covers everything for now! We hope you enjoy our venue choice for the first meetup of the year! In the meantime, enjoy the snow piling up outside! It seems, not only will we have a Dwight Christmas but we'll be having a WHITE Christmas too! See you next year!!! Cost: CAD5.00 |
