Hi,

What do you think, should I buy my beagle a winter jacket/boots to keep him warm this winter? I didn't last winter because he was a young puppy and growing too fast.

Thanks,

Debbie

Hi Debbie,

I think it's a personal choice. We don't because I think that dogs are made to withstand the hash weather & temperatures etc... That is why they shead in the spring & summer & get a thicker "winter coat" in the fall. But even though we have a big lab & a sturdy beagle, they have short fur, so I am very careful about how long they spend outside etc...

The issue of booties are something else as well, it's now an issue of all the salt that is one the streets nowadays. It really irritates some dogs feet & they get in the habit of licking, kinda like human nail biting!!!

So as I said, it's a personal choice in my opinion. But until now, our dogs have always been okay without.

HI, I hate seeing my little guy shiver in the cold shortly after we go out. So I do put a coat on him. chewy has wore one since he was 10 months old and he loves his coat..lol.. he goes and gets his coat before the leash when asked to go for a walk..lol.. Boots on the other hand I think is going too fare. But then each to their own.
It is a matter of preference for coat or boots.
